Audacia Academy 2025
Audacia is an award-winning technology consultancy, specialising in data, AI, engineering and cloud services. We design, build and deliver complex and integral bespoke software solutions for clients including the UK's largest housebuilder Persimmon Homes; the nation's largest funder of health and care research, NIHR; leading telecommunications provider O2; and market leading offshore solutions provider, Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC).
We’re looking for intelligent and driven individuals to join our Academy programme, providing a solid learning foundation to get into software development or testing. You’ll be joining our team to work on interesting and challenging technology projects based out of our Leeds City Centre waterfront location on The Calls, as part of a flexible hybrid working model.
We hire talented people based on their potential rather than their experience. Our teams have a variety of backgrounds, but all share curiosity and analytical thinking, and love to solve complex problems. You’ll be working in an open office, with a culture focused on collaboration, transparency and working as a single team, with each other and with clients.
You’ll benefit from a structured four month training programme, delivered by our senior technical staff, consisting of both seminar-led and hands on development or testing. In addition, you’ll be assigned a mentor to guide and support you throughout the program, equipping you with the knowledge, technical skills and experience to reach your full potential.
At the end of your training programme, you’ll be using the latest tools, technologies and platforms to build and test intuitive and scalable solutions for a range of clients across multiple industries. From commodities trading platforms for one of the largest agricultural companies in the world, to applications to manage people across the biggest offshore wind farms in the world.
Our Academy roles aren’t based on fixed term programmes. You’re here for the long run, if you want to be. As you progress through your career at Audacia, you’ll have opportunities to move into different roles that suit your abilities and interests. For example, becoming a Technical Lead, supporting mission-critical projects, or training future developers and testers.
You’ll be part of a community here, working with people who like to engage inside and outside of work. You’ll normally find us in evenings at the pub, playing in a pool league, board games or D&D, at yoga sessions, whisky nights or the cinema - there's always something for everyone to get involved in.
Programme:
Our academy programme splits down two learning pathways; development and testing. You're welcome to apply directly for either path, or if you're not sure which would suit you best we can discuss with you as part of the interview process.
Development:
As a developer, your training sessions will cover topics from basic to advanced concepts of C#, data access and databases, to software architecture, TypeScript and Single Page Applications – overall, you'll be working together as a team, with our Academy developers and testers, to build and test a functional project.
Testing:
As a tester, your training sessions will cover topics from programming with Typescript, unit testing and test-driven development, to UI and API automated testing – overall, you'll be working together as a team, with our Academy developers and testers, to build and test a functional project.
What previous cohorts said:
“Audacia's Academy programme has taught me so much. I was very nervous about starting my career in the tech industry, however all of nerves disappeared on the first day. Audacia was so welcoming and friendly. I really liked the Academy due to how much support you received to the very end. Every week I had a catch-up with my mentor and the Academy manager which was great to ask questions and receive feedback. If you were ever stuck on a problem, someone was always there to help.”
- Sam Markey (He/Him), Associate Software Engineer (2022 cohort)
“Participating in the Audacia Academy has been a really rewarding experience. I had done some coding before at A-Level and a small amount at uni but it has been a while and the academy programme helped to reintroduce those ideas and created a strong foundation for the more complex work we completed as the programme continued. I felt really supported during the academy programme and Audacia has a very welcoming atmosphere where anyone will answer your questions or listen to your ideas no matter how long they've been in their career."
- Rai Osborne (They/Them), Associate Test Engineer (2022 cohort)
“This programme was perfect for me. We were taught from the ground up without assuming any previous experience or knowledge. We benefited from a large amount of support, including our mentors and co-workers who we could go to for work-related help or any general questions about the company. I quickly found myself fitting into the team thanks for Audacia’s culture of inclusivity and ownership."
- Alex Kirk (He/Him), Software Engineer (2020 cohort)
"The programme was an amazing experience. The application process was simple, and the team at Audacia kept me informed at every stage of the interview process. The actual interview felt more like a problem solving session then a regular interview and made me want to join the company even more. The training was well thought out and delivered in a way that was simple to understand. It was clear that quality was important and it was better to take time learning something well than rushing and not understanding something properly"
- Esme Lawrence (She/Her), Software Engineer (2020 cohort)
